When you think of Cher, you probably think about her signature long, sleek, super shiny black hair, which has been an essential element of her look since her earliest days in the spotlight back in the ‘60s. While the music icon did stick to that vibe for much of her early career, she’s had tons of fun changing up her look with wigs—so much so that she even had a climate-controlled wig room in her Malibu mansion. Color-wise, Cher tends to stick to either black or icy platinum blonde, but her latest shade is less ice princess and more beach babe.
Cher, who performed at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, hit the red (er, pink) carpet beforehand in an unexpected hair color: a beachy wheat blonde with a smudged root, styled in loose waves past her shoulders. The color was an effortless, beachy blend of blonde tones, neither too warm nor too cool, with a darker blonde at the root to add to the lived-in feel. A slightly lighter blonde was concentrated near her face to brighten, with superfine highlights and lowlights in ash, wheat, and honey blonde mingling together for lots of dimension. The waves were perfectly imperfect, as though she curled her hair, ran her fingers through it, and zipped out the door like NBD.
The color looks gorgeous on the star, especially when paired with her soft, romantic glam of pinky-brown shadow, a peachy-rose blush, and glossy pink lips.

Cher didn't stick with the blonde too long; she was back to black for her performance. However, lowlights are having a moment; Pinterest searches for “lowlights on blonde hair” were up by a staggering 200% in summer 2024. Warmer, more buttery blonde shades are also making a comeback, so Cher's dreamy dimensional blonde is right on trend—and we hope she brings it back soon.
